What we do

What we do

Lavendon Pavilion Preschool has a bright and spacious playroom where children can choose from a range of activities, encouraging them to make decisions and complete tasks.

They will often work with other children, learning how to listen and cooperate, helping them prepare for life at their new school.

There’s a safe and secure outdoor play area which includes a mud kitchen, play house and garden, as well as space to run around. We also have access to Lavendon Park, so that your child can safely learn more about larger outdoor spaces, plants and wildlife.

With your permission, we often take trips around Lavendon and beyond.

Healthy eating

We provide a healthy mid-morning and afternoon snack for your child and a choice of milk or water to drink.

If your child attends the lunch club or full-day sessions, please provide a healthy packed lunch* in a suitable container with a clear name label.

If grapes are included in your child’s lunch, please cut them in half (from top to bottom) because of the risk of choking.

*For the safety of children with food allergies, please make sure your child’s lunch is nut-free. So, for example, don’t include chocolate spread that contains hazelnuts, such as Nutella.

Our 'Open Door' policy

You are welcome to come in to discuss your child’s progress or participate in a session at any time. We strive to build positive relationships with parents and want you to be involved in your child's preschool journey as much as possible.

Records of your child's learning journey

Your child also has an online learning journal called Tapestry that records their activities and allows
you to see special moments. You can access it via a desktop computer, tablet or mobile phone app.

We will send you an email with login details for Tapestry. If you have any problems setting up your account a member of staff will be happy to help.

We also welcome comments from parents on the observations and photographs posted on Tapestry.

As well as Tapestry, we keep a paper journal of your child's progress and work during their time at preschool which will be given to you when they leave.
